Animal control services in the city are handled by the City of Newman Police Depatment. Any animal control calls during the day should go through the Newman Police Department office at (209) 862-2902. The on-duty clerk will call the animal control officer for you. After hour calls should be made to
(209) 552-2472.

Beginning January 1, 2009 the City of Newman Police Department assumed responsible for all animal control related issues. Prior to this date the City of Newman contracted this service to Stanislaus County. By performing this service locally the community will regain local control and be able to contain costs. We are confident the service delivery will improve for our residents.
