The Residential Resale Inspection Program was adopted based on concerns of the existence of substandard dwelling units within the the City of Newman that are not in compliance with the City's building, zoning and health and safety codes and/or the City's permitting requirements and that said units could compromise the public peace, health and safety and quality of life for Newman residents. The Newman Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers to staff the Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) Program. We are seeking qualified volunteers who are willing to donate their time to support the Police Department in various assignments; Some of the activities include a police citizen patrol that would supplement patrol operations by assisting officers with tasks that currently take them away from patrol time. Gang graffiti leads to gang violence. An effective tool to prevent the escalation into violence is to paint over graffiti as quickly as possible. To help with this issue, a group of concerned citizens is being formed to volunteer their time to paint over graffiti for private property owners. The City has agreed to provide the paint and other supplies, now we need volunteers to paint over the graffiti.
